Fantastic 4 is a beat-'em-up based on a movie of the same name, which is in turn based on a comic book series created by Jack Kirby and Stan Lee. The game takes some cues from X-Men Legends in that you can quickly switch between up to four different heroes and upgrade their abilities as you battle your way through Dr. Doom's legions of robots and other monstrous foes and minibosses. Gods vs. Humans is a strategy game with an interesting premise: humans are rebelling against the power of the Gods, so they begin building towers to reach the heavens and kill them. You play as one of the Gods from Egyptian, Roman/Greek, Norse, or Japanese mythology trying to squish your peons, which you'll do by either destroying levels of the tower until it falls or by smashing the foundation using your omnipotent powers.

That may sound cool, but unfortunately this game fails to deliver a fun experience. Though it's technically a strategy game, winning in Gods vs. Humans doesn't make you feel like you accomplished anything. In fact, for the first quarter you can simply attack the foundation of the tower and easily demolish it before the humans reach the top. Once you hit level 20, though, you actually have to employ a more complex plan of attack.

It's another game show for people who either really like ballroom or Latin dance, or they just like to see celebrities make a fool out of themselves--kind of like Dancing with the Stars: The PC Game.

The game includes 26 celebrities and professional dancers from the first four seasons of the show. They include Billy Ray Cyrus, Brian Fortuna, Charlotte Jorgensen, Cheryl Burke, Drew Lachey, Edyta Sliwinska, and Emmitt Smith, just to name a few. If you're wondering who half these people are you are not alone. At this point it really doesn't matter who you pick, the characters vaguely resemble their real-life counterparts, and they all have the same body type and are more or less the same height. On the dance floor it really doesn't seem to make much of a difference either because it's so poorly animated you can't tell if they're messing up or it's supposed to be like that.

The term "budget game" has taken on a nasty vibe, and there's good reason for it. Too often discount titles simply don't deliver the goods—even when the rock bottom price tag is factored in. They're usually too short, too boring, too ugly, or too flawed. Accordingly, "budget game" has become almost synonymous with "it sucks."

Shows how wrong expectations can be. While L.A. Street Racing—a game about, you guessed it, street racing in Los Angeles—likely won't win any awards, it's far from a clunker. Indeed, one gets the impression that if developer Invictus was able to spend a little more time in the development and testing cycle, fleshing it out and subjecting it to a thorough beta program, L.A. Street Racing could have skipped the budget thing entirely and become a damn good "regular" game.

OVER THE HEDGE / RIP / 1 CD

When a new children's movie comes along, there's no doubting that a videogame counterpart will be riding on its coattails. Over The Hedge is no exception, as Activision sent its newest legalized addition to the shelves to team with the latest DreamWorks feature, ensuring that children would have no problem getting the CG fix they so desperately need. Though the tradition of movie games has been around for quite some time, it's still very  rare that we stumble across one that's actually entertaining. Over the Hedge may not be a must-have title for every console owner in America, but it does manage to deliver some decent entertainment at the expense of the all-too-familiar rushed feel of a licensed game.

It's a murder mystery, so there are 9 or 10 characters to interrogate to gather clues. The puzzles themselves are varied and though they start off fairly easy, they do get more difficult. To some extent the extra difficulty is due to the lack of feedback. I stumbled on a couple of puzzles because the mechanics eluded me. Some extra information would have helped. Also one of the riddles was great fun but the other lacked sufficient clues. But maybe it was me; unfortunately the frustration of moving Finvinerro around didn't encourage persistence.

The gameplay was reminiscent of other extreme sports games wherein you had a series of moves that could be performed based on key-combination and location with more moves opened up as you completed various challenges. Along with the standard parkour moves such as the wall run and various vaults over obstacles, the players could also perform superficial moves such as flips or spins which provided points and "flow", but weren't necessarily useful for traversing the landscapes. You would work on completing various challenges in a mix of levels that ranged from rooftops to building sites. The game can be difficult for beginners to pick up, but veterans who have learned the nuances can easily create a fluidity of movement that rivals even that of professional parkour performers.

 Sengoku concentrates on one nation, not on continents. The central unit of play is the clan, not a nation state. Players take the role of the head of one of over forty clans. In the campaign game, players play through generations of clan leaders while two shorter scenarios cover wars allowing two powerful clans to fight things out. Controlling half of Japan’s provinces wins the campaign game. Loss of honor down to zero allows the player to commit seppuku and lose the game.
 

Clan leaders are besieged on three fronts. Rival clans will mount military operations, send ninja to assassinate key people and sow dissent. Domestically, a bad harvest or mobs whipped up by dissatisfied religions can cause the loss of honor. However, the most insidious threat may come from the clan itself. Clan leader is an elected position. Vassals and family members may plot to oust the leader or its heir in favor of their own favorite.
